Agricultural Security Area

Agricultural Security Area Map
On August 27, 2013, the North Fayette Township Board of Supervisors approved the creation of the Township's Agricultural Security Area (ASA). ASAs are a tool for strengthening and protecting agriculture in Pennsylvania.

What is the ASA Program

The ASA program is a farmland preservation program that protects agricultural areas and encourages the continual use of land for productive agricultural purposes. ASAs are intended to promote more permanent and viable farming operations over the long term by strengthening the farming community's sense of security in land use and the right to farm.

The properties included within the North Fayette Township ASA have been reviewed to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria outlined per the State's guidelines in terms of acreage, soil classifications, zoning, etc. A total of 763.4 acres are included in the Township's ASA.
