Our District Court serves the communities of North Fayette, Findlay, Oakdale Borough, and McDonald (Allegheny County).  It includes Pittsburgh International Airport, all matters out of The Allegheny County Police District One, traffic offenses from Settlers Cabin Park, and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.

The jurisdiction of the District Judge includes civil suits involving as much as $12,000 in matters such as suits for breach of contract and home improvement.  They have additional civil jurisdiction over such matters as landlord and tenant cases.  All decisions are subject to appeal to the Court of Common Pleas.

Criminal matters filed as summary offenses such as retail theft, criminal mischief, underage drinking, trespass, and certain fish and game violations among many others are heard at the District Court.  In misdemeanors and felonies such as DUI, assault, domestic violence, and narcotics sale or possession, only the preliminary hearings are held at this level.  Trial sentencing and probation occur at the Court of Common Pleas.

Emergency Protection from Abuse Orders (PFAs) can be sought at The Family Division of Allegheny County , 440 Ross Street , Room 3030, Third Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  After 3:00pm and Emergency order can be obtained at the District Court and must be followed up the next day at Family Division.  Otherwise, Emergency PFAs can be sought at the Allegheny County Arraignment Court after business hours, weekends, and holidays.

The District Judge may perform marriages and solemnize marriage licenses issued by any county in Pennsylvania.
